31 July 2024

Four students selected to attend UWC Changshu China, UWC East Asia, UWC Red Cross Nordic and UWC Maastricht

Four second-level students from Ireland have been awarded scholarships by United World Colleges (UWC) to attend partner colleges in Norway, the Netherlands, East Africa, and Changshu. These scholarships will allow the students to pursue the esteemed International Baccalaureate (IB) programme from 2024 – 2026 and give them the opportunity to contribute and learn from diverse communities worldwide

Having received many highly competitive applications for the esteemed scholarship this year, four students were selected for their passion for socio-economic change and strong academic performance. These recipients will now embark on an enriching journey to complete the two-year International Baccalaureate programme, which promises to broaden their global perspective and foster lifelong learning.

Raven  from Cappawhite, Co. Tipperary, will attend UWC Maastricht in the Netherlands; Rory  from Bohermeen, Co. Meath, will travel to UWC East Africa in Tanzania; Clíona from Cork City will attend UWC Changshu in China; and James from Navan, Co. Meath, will study at UWC Red Cross in Norway.

This year, the UWC Ireland National Committee had the opportunity to fund an additional scholarship with thanks to the generosity of Dan and Linda Kiely, founders of The Republic of Work, and the Dare to Dream Programme, funded by American philanthropist, Shelby Davis.
